Jaipur: In a suspected case of honour killing, a married woman who had eloped with another man last year was allegedly strangulated to death by her father in Rajasthan's Sikar district, police said on Friday.

Chaina Kanwar, aged around 25 years, was married to Devendra Singh of Didwana locality in Nagaur district in April 2016 but eloped with her lover after five-six months, police said.

"She was living with the paramour for the last few months at an undisclosed place. She was spotted by her father Bhanwar Singh at Ranauli bus stand on Wednesday. He took her to their old deserted house in Samer village where he strangulated her to death," Additional SP Tejraj Singh said.

Locals informed police about the dead body in the house yesterday.

"The father could not be arrested so far. The body is being handed over to family members after post mortem today," he added.
