Harare: Alistair Campbell has announced his resignation from the role of Zimbabwe Cricket's director of international cricket and commercial affairs.

The 43-year-old former national captain had been appointed ZC's managing director after Dav Whatmore was roped in as head coach of the national side earlier in January. He had previously served as the chief selector and chairman of the cricket committee.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Campbell has requested in his letter to ZC chief executive Wilfred Mukondiwa for his resignation to be back-dated to October 1 so that he could serve his three-month notice period by the end of the year.

Earlier in May, former national captain Prosper Utseya had accused Campbell of racial bias, claiming that the latter had played a role in his non-selection at the World Cup.
