Ferguson banking on good CLT20 show to earn recall in Australian team

South Australian Redbacks vice-captain Callum Ferguson is banking on a good performance in the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament to regain his place in the national one-day squad.

Kolkata: South Australian Redbacks vice-captain Callum Ferguson is banking on a good performance in the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament to regain his place in the national one-day squad.
Going great guns, the right hand batsman sustained a knee injury while fielding in the Champions trophy final and then lost his place as Australia`s regular one-day team was reconstituted. He, however, played in the series against Bangladesh, but was again not included in the squad now touring Sri Lanka.
"Earning the baggy green is the most important thing for any Aussie cricketer. I hope my form helps me back into the squad as I am preparing my comeback from the injury," Ferguson said here Saturday. The North Adelaide-born 26-year-old, who has turned out in 30 ODIs for Australia scoring 663 runs at a 85 plus strike rate, is drawing hope from his good performance in the previous Champions League. "I got some runs under my belt in the last Champions League and that impressed the selectors back home. I hope to do the same this time," he added. Ferguson said the present Redbacks squad was different from the one which played in the League last year. "We are aware of our potential. We are hungrier for success. "If our batting clicks then we are sure we can put up good totals for our bowlers to defend. This is what we have done the whole of the summer and hope to continue the good work here too." IANS
