New Delhi: As Sachin Tendulkar`s illustrious career draws to an end, Olympian wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Amit Kumar Dahiya want the retiring Indian batsman to enthral the cricket-crazy nation by scoring centuries in his final two Tests.
Tendulkar will bring the curtains down on his illustrious 24-year-long career with the two-Test series against the West Indies, beginning tomorrow at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Tendulkar will play his 200th Test at home -- the Wankhede Stadium -- in
Mumbai from November 14 to 18. "He has given this country and its people so much that is beyond imagination. His achievements in cricket speak for him. It`s a big loss to the world cricket. We will miss his presence on the cricket field," Yogeshwar told PTI. "It would be a sad day for all of us when he will walk on to the field for one last time during the Wankhede Test. I would like to see him score centuries in both the Tests. He should make the series memorable for every cricket-loving Indian," said the London Olympic bronze medallist. In a controversy free career, Tendulkar has been the most worshipped cricketer who has against his name, almost all the batting records including most runs and hundreds in international cricket. World Championship silver-medallist Amit Kumar wished Tendulkar the very best and said he would be best remembered for his commitment to the game. "I wish him all the very best for his life after cricket. He has been an inspiration for the youth. He has done so much for cricket and it`s just amazing to see all his world records. "The Indian cricket team will definitely miss him. I would like to see him score many runs against the West Indies and bow out on a high," said Amit. Both lauded the senior cricketer for his unmatched talent and commitment -- a hallmark of his glittering career. "I can remember his match-winning knock of 98 against Pakistan in 2003 World Cup, that was a special innings and long remembered by every Indian. There were many such masterly innings from his bat but for me, that stood out. "I will watch him bat on TV with my whole family. I am eagerly awaiting for the series to begin," added Yogeshwar. Yogeshwar urged Tendulkar to work for the upliftment of sports as a Rajya Sabha member after his retirement "He is in a position where he can contribute towards the upliftment of every sport," he said.
