Enough about Kareena, says a fuming Deepika

Mumbai, July 14: Want to measure Kareena Kapoor’s popularity meter then ask Deepika Padukone, who is sidelined all thanks to Bebo’s fan following. Playing the lead actress in Saif Ali Khan’s maiden production, Dips is having a tough time garnering the limelight as it constantly shifts to Kareena Kapoor, who apart from being the producer’s lover-girl has nothing to do with the flick 'Love Aaj Kal'.Strange as it may appear but Kareena seems to be more in news for not doing the film than Deepika is, for doing it. And Deepika it seems isn’t amused. The constant enquiries about Kareena have left Dips miffed and she has now opened fire on the media for giving Kareena undue publicity. Speaking to a news daily, Dips said, “This must be the first film in the history of cinema where a lady is being talked about so much for not being in the film. No, I’m not annoyed by these never-ending references to Kareena. When people see the film I know they’ll come out talking about me and my performance. Director Imtiaz Ali was very sure he wanted only me in the film.” Talking about the faith her director had in her, the actress said, “Imtiaz was so sure that he wanted me for the part that he had offered me ‘Love Aaj Kal’ even before my first film, ‘Om Shanti Om’, was released. Even before seeing me on screen, he knew that I was right for the role. So there was no question of any other actress being in the film.” And even though Dips lashed out at Bebo, the smart girl refrained from commenting on Saif’s fixation with Bebo. “Considering Saif is in a relationship with Kareena, isn’t it understandable if he wanted Kareena in ‘Love Aaj Kal’? They’ve worked together in the past. And I’m sure he wants to work with her in his home production. As for Kareena, if I was in her place I’d feel the same way. Don’t I want to work with Ranbir? ,”she added.
