Ajax, Feyenoord stay on top of Dutch Eredivisie

The Hague: League leaders Ajax and Feyenoord made no mistake in the 10th match round of the Eredivisie, with Ajax beating Vitesse 3-1 and Feyenoord defeating AZ with the same figures.

Vitesse took the lead in Arnhem against Ajax through Valeri Qazaishvili in the 54th minute, but the visitors bounced back via Viktor Fischer, Riechedly Bazoer and Lasse Schone on Sunday.

The assist for the last goal came from debutant Sam Hendriks, a 20-year-old striker, Xinhua reported.

Feyenoord thanked Dirk Kuijt for the 3-1 home victory against AZ. For the second match in a row he produced a hat-trick. His first goal was a beautiful lob and after the equaliser by Joris van Overeem, he added two more by deflecting a shot by Bart Nieuwkoop and by converting a penalty.

The 35-year-old striker now is the top scorer of the Dutch league with 10 goals.

Ajax and Feyenoord now are on 25 points after 10 matches, followed by PSV (21), Heracles Almelo (21), Vitesse (17) and PEC Zwolle (17).

Next Wednesday Feyenoord and Ajax meet in Rotterdam in the Dutch Cup.
