Assn sends fax to PM, urging Copa America telecast

A local football fans Association has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take steps for the live telecast of the Copa America football championship on the national network.

Kozhikode: A local football fans Association has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take steps for the live telecast of the Copa America football championship on the national network.
In a fax message sent to Singh, the Association said there was no live telecast of the tournament in India as per media reports. "As you are aware, football is the world`s largest and most popular game and has large number of fans in India alone.” “As far as football fans are concerned, the Copa America championship is one of the most favourite championships in the world as Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay are participating in the tournament," Nainamvalappu Football Fans Association said and requested him to take steps for its telecast.The Copa Amercia 2011 Football championship is scheduled to start at Argentina from Friday.
