Rio De Janeiro: The Most Valuable Player of the 1999 FIFA World Cup Rivaldo was officially announced as the newest player of Angola`s Kabuscorp FC. He signed a one-year deal with the club.
Recently released from Sao Paulo, the 39-year-old athlete was not yet ready to hang up his boots and decided to take his game to another country.
Angola and Brazil speak the same language, Portuguese. The common language played a big role in the veteran`s decision. Additionally, the runners-up in the Angolan championship are owned by millionaire Bento dos Santos, assuring that the player will not have to worry about receiving payment, unlike a host of clubs in Brazil, including Flamengo that currently owes Ronaldinho an estimated $ 2 million.
Rivaldo revealed that several clubs, both in Brazil and internationally, were interested in him. However, the athlete said his family ultimately helped him to make the decision to go to Angola.
Apart from setting the goal to win the Angolan championship in 2012, the member of Brazil`s 2002 World Cup winning team hopes to help raise the standard of the sport in the country.
