Impossible to find Alex Ferguson's replacement, claims super-agent

New Delhi: Known as the super-agent in the football world, Jorge Mendes has claimed that it's almost impossible to find replacement for former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"It's completely impossible to find someone like Sir Alex Ferguson because he's a god, he's a genius and to find a genius is very difficult," Mendes told BBC Sport.

Mendes, who handles careers of top-footballers like Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Costa and Angel Di Maria, however feels that fellow Portuguese and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could be the ideal successor to the great Scot.

"You have one in England... Jose Mourinho,” Mendes added.

Interestingly, Mendes is also Mourinho's agent.

Ferguson won 38 trophies in his 27-year reign at the Old Trafford before stepping down as the boss of the world's most famous football club in May 2013.

He hand-picked fellow Scot David Moyes as his replacement but the former Everton manager was fired after 10 months. Then, Manchester United roped in the services of Louis van Gall, who had guided Netherlands to the third-place in the 2014 World Cup.

Under the Dutchman, Manchester United are currently in third place after round 23, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, and five behind champions Manchester City who are second.
