Wellington: Legendary Argentina footballer Diego Maradona has launched a blistering tirade on Sepp Blatter, accusing the FIFA president of plummeting the world football's governing body into 'anarchy' in his tenure.

As the FIFA presidential election is due to held on May 29, Maradona believes that the continued presence of Blatter, who is seeking a fifth term as president, would continue to harm football.

Maradona, who inspired his country to the World Cup glory in 1986, said that there is total anarchy inside FIFA as there is only one man who decides everything, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Maradona, who has thrown his support behind presidential candidate Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, claimed that the incumbent president knows absolutely nothing and therefore, the time has come for change.

He further said that Blatter had done a lot of damage to football, insisting that it is time for him to step aside and let them renovate football.

Maradona played in the World Cups of 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994 and later coached Argentina to the World Cup quarterfinals of 2010.
