Struggling Granada turn to Alcaraz, again

Madrid: Granada have reached an agreement with Lucas Alcaraz that will see him become their coach for a third time, succeeding the sacked Paco Jemez, La Liga`s bottom club announced on Monday.

The 50-year-old Alcaraz, a native of the Andalusian city, has agreed to take over on a deal until the end of the season.

Jemez was sacked last week after Granada failed to win any of their first six matches of the season, but their plight worsened on Saturday when they went down 1-0 at home to Leganes under interim coach Lluis Planaguma.

Alcaraz, who first coached the club two decades ago and also had a spell at the helm between January 2013 and the summer of 2014, therefore returns with Granada a point adrift of Osasuna at the bottom.

His first game in charge will be away to leaders Atletico Madrid on Saturday, October 15.
