Tigist Tufa wins women`s London Marathon

London: Ethiopia`s Tigist Tufa won the women`s London Marathon on Sunday in an unofficial time of two hours, 23 minutes and 22 seconds.

Tufa broke clear from the chasing pack late in the race and finished some 18 seconds in front of two-time London champion Mary Keitany of Kenya, with Ethiopia`s Tirfi Tsegaye third.

Keitany held off Tsegaye in a hard-fought battle for second place but both runners were unable to respond to the late surge of Tufa, the 2014 Shanghai marathon winner.
