Kolkata: Statistical highlights at the end of the first cricket Test between India and West Indies here on Friday.

• Sachin Tendulkar has bettered his record now by being a part of 71 Test victories for India • West Indies and India have won three Tests each (drawn four) out of 10 matches at the Eden Gardens. • India have won three Tests by an innings vs West Indies - two at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and one at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. • Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India have won 25 Tests (the most under one Indian captain). • Dhoni has a success rate of 52.08 percent - having won 25, lost 11 and drawn 12 in the 48 Tests as captain. • Mohammed Shami became the third Indian fast bowler to bag five wickets or more in an innings on Test debut. His match-winning performance of five for 47 is the second best by an Indian fast bowler in a Test innings on debut behind Abid Ali`s 6 for 55 against Australia at Adelaide in 1967-68. • Apart from Abid ali and Shami, Mohammad Nissar is the only other Indian fast bowler to claim five wickets in an innings on Test debut - 5 for 93 vs England at Lord`s in 1932. • Shami`s match performance of 9 for 118 is the best by an Indian fast bowler on Test debut, surpassing Munaf Patel`s seven for 97 against England at Mohali in March 2006. • Overall, Shami`s match figures are the second best by a bowler for India on Test debut behind Narendra Hirwani`s 16 for 136 against West Indies at Chennai in 1987-88. • With his 177 off 301 balls, Rohit Sharma has set a record for the highest innings by a number six batsman on Test debut beating Doug Walters` 155 off 315 balls for Australia against England at Brisbane in 1964-65. • Rohit`s match-winning knock is the second highest by an Indian batsman on Test debut behind the 187 by Shikhar Dhawan vs Australia at Mohali in March 2013. • Rohit is the fifth player to have received the Man of the Match award for India on Test debut, joining Pravin Amre, Rudra Pratap Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan. • Ravi Ashwin`s 124 is his career-best score in Tests.This is Ashwin`s second hundred. • Ashwin became the 4th Indian player to record two hundreds as No 8 batsman in Test cricket. He has joined Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. • Both Ashwin`s centuries have been recorded by him against the West Indies - the first being 103 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in November 2011. • Ashwin`s 124 is the third highest by No 8 batsman in Tests. Dhoni has scored 144 vs West Indies in 2011-12 and an unbeaten 132 vs South Africa in 2009-10, both at Eden Gardens. • Ashwin has scored 100 runs or more and captured five wickets or more three times in the same Test - 124 and 5/98 in the just concluded Test; 117 (103 + 14), 9 for 190 vs West Indies at Mumbai in 2011-12 and 112 (21 + 91*) and five for 214 vs England at Kolkata in December last year. • With their 280-run stand, Ashwin and Sharma have set a seventh-wicket partnership record for India, eclipsing the 259 (unbroken) between VVS Laxman and Mahendra Singh Dhoni against South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in February 2010. • For India, five partnerships of 200-plus have been recorded for the seventh wicket in Tests - three vs West Indies. The previous best by an Indian seventh-wicket pair was 224 by Dhoni and Laxman in the 2011-12 Kolkata Test. • India`s number 6, 7 and 8 have combined tally of 343 - an Indian record, eclipsing the 295 vs Pakistan at Bangalore in 2007-08. • Shane Shillingford`s bowling figures of 6 for 167 are his third best in Tests behind the 6 for 49 vs Zimbabwe at Bridgetown in March this year and 6 for 119 vs Australia at Roseau in April last year. • Shillingford became the eighth spinner to bag five wickets in a Test innings for West Indies vs India. Carl Hooper (5/116) was the last to achieve the distinction at Nagpur in December 1994. • Shane Shillingford`s first five-wicket haul away from home is his fifth in Tests. His performance is the best by a West Indian spinner at Eden Gardens, outstripping Lance Gibbs` five for 51 in 1966-67. • Three West Indian fast bowlers have captured five wickets or more in an innings at Eden Gardens - Roy Gilchrist, Malcolm Marshall and Andy Roberts. • Shillingford (55-9-167-6) has recorded an unwanted feat by conceding most runs by a West Indian bowler against India in a Test innings, surpassing Dave Mohammed`s figures - 29.5-3-162-3 at St.John`s in 2006. • Shivnarine Chanderpaul took his aggregate to 4885 (ave.40.37) in 69 Tests - the second highest in a losing cause behind Brian Lara`s tally of 5316 (ave.42.19) in 63 Tests.
