Dehra Dun: First SAF Winter Games will be
held in Uttarakhand from January 7 next year.
The Games will be organised at the ski resort of Auli in
Chamoli district and Dehra Dun from January 7 to 19 next year,
said President of SAF Winter Games, Brig S S Patwal.
He said this after visiting Maharana Pratap Sports
College where the ice rink has been prepared from the Games.
He expressed satisfaction over the preparations regarding
the ice rink and skating rink and said a technical committee
of the federation has found them perfect for the Games.
Prior to the SAF Winter Games, a coaching camp would also
be organised at Auli from December 7 to 16, Brig Patwal said.
After that, there would be a skiing championship from
December 18 to 23 in Auli and ice skating championship from
December 25 to 30 in Dehra Dun, he added.
The Indian team in the seventh Asian Winter Games to be
held in Kazakhstan from January 30 would be selected from the
first SAF Winter Games, he said.
"Bharal", the Himalayan blue sheep, has been chosen as
the mascot of SAF Winter Games.
