Cut GST for AC eateries, small businesses: Panel

Currently, manufacturers and restaurants with turnover up to Rs 1 crore pay GST under composition scheme at 2 percent and 5 percent respectively. The same for traders is 1 percent.

Service tax only in AC restaurants; effective rate 5.6%

Restaurants, eating-joints or messes, which do not have the facility of air-conditioning or central-heating in any part of the establishment are exempt from service tax.
