Centre makes ‘material connection’ disclosure must for celebrity endorsers

Material disclosures means any relationship that materially affects the weight or credibility of any endorsement. Violation of these guidelines will attract a penalty of Rs 10 lakh for first offence.

ASCI issues new guidelines on harmful gender stereotypes

The new guidelines do not intend to prevent ads from featuring glamorous, attractive, successful, aspirational or healthy people or lifestyles. Gender stereotypes are harmful because they lock individuals in certain roles, said ASCI. Ads should not reinforce unrealistic and undesirable gender ideals or expectations, ASCI added.
