Sharjeel's confession in Crime Branch inquiry, Gave inflammatory speech

JNU research scholar Sharjeel Imam has admitted to the Delhi Police that a viral video of a recent speech he gave at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is genuine. He said he made the controversial remark about cutting the Siliguri Corridor from India. Imam asserted that the video clip doing the rounds on social media doesn't contain his full speech. The JNU scholar has been booked for sedition and other charges in several states.

Accused of Treason Sharjeel Imam sent to 5 days police custody, Mobile not found

A Delhi court on January 29 sent Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Sharjeel Imam, arrested on sedition charges, to five days of police custody. Imam was arrested from his village in Bihar’s Jehanabad by a joint team of Delhi and Bihar police on January 28, three days after a case of sedition was registered against him in Delhi for his allegedly “inflammatory and instigating” speech. The crime branch is questioning Sharjeel but the police, however, has not found the mobile phone of Sharjeel, which can prove major charges against him.

One of the key organisers of the Shaheen Bagh protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens, Sharjeel Imam found himself in a soup over his controversial cut off Assam from India remark. Facing sedition charges in five states and being on the run for three days since one of his speech videos went viral, Sharjeel was finally arrested by Delhi Police from Jehanabad in Bihar on January 28. Two videos of Sharjeel’s alleged inflammatory speeches at Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia have spread like wildfire, providing much ammo to supporters of CAA and NRC. Now the question is will Sharjeel Imam reveal the controversy behind the protests.
