I-T portal faces another glitch; Infosys directed to fix issue

After many users complained of issues while accessing the I-T portal and reported that it was hacked. The finance ministry officials also assured that there has been no data breach on the portal.

FM Sitharaman sets September 15 deadline for Infosys CEO to resolve glitches

The Ministry of Finance emphasised that there is a need for putting in more resources and efforts on the part of Infosys so that the much-delayed delivery of agreed services is ensured. Parekh was also sensitised on the difficulties that the taxpayers are facing and the problems that are arising on account of the delays in the functioning of the portal. The Infosys CEO explained that he and his team are doing everything to ensure the smooth functioning of the portal.

A resident of India who has attained the age of 60 years or above but less than 80 years at any time during the respective year, is a senior citizen. A resident of India who is 80 years or above during any time of the respective year is a very senior citizen. Reply date for I-T queries on deposits extended till Feb 15

Government on Saturday extended the window for assessees receiving SMS or e-mail queries from the income tax department on cash deposits post demonetisation by 5 days to February 15.

Income tax department identifies 67.54 lakh potential non-filers for 2014-15

The income tax department has conducted the fifth cycle of data matching which has identified an additional 67.54 lakh potential non-filers who have carried out high value transactions in the financial year 2014-15 but did not file return of income for the relevant assessment year i.e. A.Y 2015-16.

I-T dept receives 2 crore returns on e-filing portal till Sept 7

The income tax department has received 2.06 crore returns, up 26.12 percent, on its e-filing portal as of September 7 - the last day for filing the returns by individuals.
