Online communities helped 92% of Indians sail through pandemic: Facebook

Over 38.8 percent of people in India said the online groups have become "significantly more important", as compared to responses from the rest of the world. More than 5.5 million people in India are part of active parenting groups on Facebook. At least 43.8 percent of Indians find a sense of belonging in online groups and 42.1 percent of Indians` most important group is online.

Facebook axes 16,000 groups for selling fake reviews

Facebook has also been under scrutiny by the CMA for antitrust concerns over the technology company`s acquisition of the GIF website Giphy. It has been under pressure the world over for its data-sharing practices as well as fake news and hate speech. CMA`s crackdown on Facebook coincides with Britain`s efforts to set up a dedicated digital markets unit within the regulatory authority to specifically look at governing digital platforms.
