Brick kiln owners protest against GST hike; demand revert to old 1%

Thousands of brick kiln owners PROTEST against GST hike on building material by 5% points. From 1 per cent, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate has been increased to 6 per cent effective April 1, 2022. There are about 1.5 lakh brick kilns in India, which employ around 3 crore workers.

BIG relief for economy! GST collection rises by 28 % in Aug to Rs 1.43 lakh cr

GST collection grew by 28 % to Rs 1.43 lakh crore in August: Finance Ministry. The gross GST revenue collected in August 2022 stood at Rs 1,43,612 crore. The revenues for the month of August 2022, registered 28 % increase than the GST revenues of Rs 1,12,020 crore collected in August 2021.

Petrol, diesel not under the purview of GST, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Including petrol and diesel under GST would have resulted in a reduction in near record-high rates. Also, the Council cut GST rate on fortified rice kernels to 5 per cent from 18 per cent and on bio-diesel for blending in diesel to 5 per cent from 12 per cent. GST on ores and concentrates of metals such as iron, copper, aluminum and zinc has been increased from 5 per cent to 18 per cent.

FinMin proposes 3-year compensation for states in GST
