Sensex rises to 300 points by afternoon today, Banking, IT stocks top gainers
Sensex and Nifty, were trading with gains of over half % in the afternoon session on Friday Sensex started the day sharply higher at 59,050.67 points and surged to a high of 59,321.65 points in the early morning trade. Top Gainers: Tata steel, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation, Mahindra and Mahindra, L&T, SBI, and Infosys.

Sensex rises over 100 points in opening trade, Nifty tops 17,500
HDFC was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding over 1 percent, followed by Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Nestle India, HDFC Bank and HUL. Tech Mahindra, NTPC, M&M, Titan and HCL Tech were among the gainers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,041.92 crore on Tuesday, as per provisional exchange data.

Sensex crosses 59k for first time, Nifty leaps to fresh high
Broader NSE Nifty surged 110.05 points or 0.63 per cent to its new closing high of 17,629.50. During the session, it scaled an all-time peak of 17,644.60. IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, spurting over 7 per cent, followed by ITC, SBI, Reliance Industries, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech and Dr Reddy's were among the laggards.

The Indian market welcomed Joe Biden, stock markets opened at a record high after his swearing-in. The Sensex crossed the 50 thousand mark for the first time, while the Nifty crossed the 14 thousand mark.
