New Zealand wants Aus to let travel bubble remain open amid new COVID-19 cases
A worker in Auckland airport has tested positive for COVID-19 after the opening of the travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand. Australia has recorded just over 29,500 virus cases and 910 deaths since the pandemic began, while New Zealand has had just over 2,200 confirmed cases and 26 deaths.

The woman, who lives in Northland on New Zealand`s North Island, quarantined upon arrival in a managed isolation facility in Auckland where several the highly virulent COVID-19 cases have been recorded in recent weeks, Bloomfield said. Social media users rushed to express concern and frustration about the new case, with one user describing the reactions on Twitter as a 'collective groan'. Pressure has been mounting on Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's government to vaccinate the population, but New Zealand has said the majority of its population would only be vaccinated in the second half of the year.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern hit back on Tuesday against US President Trump for saying her country is experiencing a "big surge" in COVID-19, calling the remarks "patently wrong". Trump sparked uproar in New Zealand when he told a crowd in Minnesota that the South Pacific country of 5 million people was in the grip of a "terrible" upsurge in COVID-19 cases. Thirteen new infections were confirmed in New Zealand on Tuesday, taking the country`s total number of cases since the pandemic began to 1,293, with 22 deaths.
