Agitating farmers' body rejects Centre's invite for discussion on farm laws

Farmers’ body - the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee - on Wednesday turned down the Central government’s request for a meeting on October 8 to resolve their concerns regarding the farm laws. The three laws - Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020; and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act - were passed recently by Parliament.

Farmers’ body announces 3-day ‘rail roko’ agitation against farm bills

Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has said that they will hold a rail roko agitation from September 24 to 26 against the three agriculture ordinances passed by the Centre. The committee had also staged a protest in Amritsar earlier this week against ordinances. BJP ally SAD, along with several opposition parties including the Congress, strongly opposed the two Bills.
