Landlines restored in Kashmir a month after abrogation of Article 370

Exactly a month after Article 370 was abrogated, landlines in the region will be restored from today. The restriction was imposed on August 5 soon after Home Minister Amit Shah had announced the government's decision to revoke the article. Kupwara and Handwara will also see restoration of cellphone connections from today.

Landlines fully restored in J&K, a month after Article 370's revocation

All telephonic exchanges will be restored in the Kashmir Valley from Thursday, even as mobile phone services will be made functional in the districts of Kupwara and Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir. The move comes one month after the Narendra Modi-led central government revoked Article 370 and Article 35A in the former state, taking away its special status.
