NASA successfully launches Sentinel-6 satellite to monitor global sea levels
"The Earth is changing, and this satellite will help deepen our understanding of how," said director of NASA's Earth Science Division. The joint US-European satellite built to monitor global sea levels lifted off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich will extend a nearly 30-year continuous dataset on sea level collected by an ongoing collaboration of US and European satellites.

Global survey using NASA data shows 50% increase in glacial lakes since 1990
The study estimates current glacial lake volumes total about 37.4 cubic miles (156 cubic kilometers) of water, the equivalent of about one-third the volume of Lake Erie. As per NASA, the findings which are published in the journal Nature Climate Change will aid researchers to assess the potential hazards to communities downstream of these often unstable lakes. The data will also help improve the accuracy of sea-level rise estimates by advancing the understanding of how glacial meltwater is transported to the oceans.

NASA estimates the asteroid`s relative speed at around 8.16 kilometres per second. The last time asteroid 2011 ES4 flew by the Earth was visible from ground for four days. The asteroid, listed as a potentially hazardous asteroid, was first discovered in the spring of 2011 and passes by Earth every nine years.

NASA to air departure of Japanese Cargo Ship from International Space Station
The live coverage of the departure will begin at 1:15 PM EDT (10:45 PM IST ) on NASA's Television and official website. Earlier on May 20, the spacecraft which was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan delivered about four tons of supplies and experiments to the orbital complex, including new lithium-ion batteries that were used to upgrade the station’s power systems.

SpaceX and NASA are targeting 7:34 PM EDT on August 1 (5:04 AM IST on August 2) for Crew Dragon to autonomously undock from the Space Station. Dragon will splash down at one of seven targeted water landing sites off the coast of Florida at 2:42 PM EDT on August 2 (12:12 am IST on August 3).

NASA to broadcast Mars 2020 Perseverance launch, prelaunch activities
The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover will be launched through a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from the Space Launch Complex 41 in Florida. The mission is designed to better understand the geology and climate of Mars. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has built the Perseverance rover and will manage mission operations for NASA.

NASA targeting August 2 return of SpaceX's spacecraft from ISS to Earth
On May 30, Elon Musk-owned SpaceX created history by becoming first private rocket company to launch two American astronauts towards orbit. SpaceX`s Crew Dragon capsule carrying NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley docked with the ISS on May 31. Just before liftoff, Hurley had said, "SpaceX, we're going for launch. Let`s light this candle," paraphrasing the famous comment uttered on the launch pad in 1961 by Alan Shepard.
