New players' body PTPA will welcome women: Novak Djokovic
Women professionals are taking part in discussions on joining Novak Djokovic`s breakaway Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), the men`s world number one said on Friday. The Serbian also expressed dissatisfaction over the opposition his new players' body has received from some players. Last month, Djokovic resigned as head of the ATP player council before the U.S. Open, along with members Vasek Pospisil, John Isner and Sam Querrey, to form the PTPA. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) was set up by players in 1972 to represent the men`s athletes while the WTA represents the women's tour.

Novak Djokovic, Vasek Pospisil look to form new players association
Djokovic is trying to form a new body to represent players and has resigned from his position as the president of players council of ATP. Canadian Vasek Pospisil, a member of the Djokovic-led council, has also resigned as the players representative of 51-100 positions. The new body will be called the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) and will provide players with a self-governance structure that is independent from the ATP.
