The MIB said the present guidelines issued by it in 2014 on TV Rating agencies in India were notified after detailed deliberations It has been found that there is a need to have a fresh look at the guidelines particularly keeping in view the recent recommendations of TRAI The panel will address the needs of the stakeholders and make recommendations for robust, transparent and accountable rating system

Centre slams Congress, says trampling on media freedom won't be tolerated

Centre slammed the Congress for allegedly targeting the media and said trampling on media freedom will not be tolerated by the people of India. His reaction came after the Mumbai Police claimed to have arrested four persons in a TRP manipulation racket. TRP is a tool to judge which TV programmes are viewed the most and also indicates the viewers' choice and popularity of a particular channel.

'Idea of fake TRP a deadly weapon, this will discredit whole electronic media'

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday said that the idea of fake Television Rating Points (TRP) is a deadly weapon to poison viewers like fake news. He added that this will discredit the whole electronic media. TRP is a tool to judge which TV programmes are viewed the most and also indicates the viewers' choice and popularity of a particular channel.
