Tokyo 2020 outgoing chief Yoshiro Mori had history of sexist remarks
Once premier, his support ratings began sliding within weeks, and a year later they were in single digits and he was out of the job. In 2014, the year he was appointed head of Tokyo 2020, he sparked outrage by saying skater Mao Asada had a habit of ‘always falling at the most critical time.’ Mori is married to Chieko, whom he met while they were both students at Tokyo’s Waseda University, and cleared all his decisions with her first.

Olympics: Tokyo 2021 chief Yoshiro Mori raised sexist storm, refuses to resign
Nearly 80 percent of the Japanese public are opposed to holding the Summer Games as scheduled this year due to concerns about the coronavirus, recent polls show. Mori is becoming Tokyo’s latest liability in hosting the Olympics, critics say, complicating an event that has already been delayed once due to the global pandemic. In an apparent protest of Mori’s comments, Noriko Mizoguchi, a former judo silver medallist, tweeted the International Olympic Committee’s code of ethics and said that any type of harassment should be rejected.
