Note ban survey on Modi app receives 'good response'

Demonetisation has emerged as a rallying point for both the BJP and the opposition with the latter terming it a failure and marking its anniversary as 'black day' while the ruling party describing it as an attack on black money and observing the day as 'anti-blackmoney day'.

New Delhi: A survey on demonetisation on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's app has received support from 81 per cent of participants with an approval rating of 4.6 out of 5 for the decision, official sources said on Thursday.

Close to 50,000 people have given feedback in first 24 hours of the launch of the survey on Wednesday, the first anniversary of the demonetisation decision.

The sources also said that despite "good response" given by participants, Modi has asked officials to work on these feedback.

The sources claimed that 93 per cent of the participants in the survey on Modi's app believed his steps to fight corruption and black money were right and 81 per cent accused the UPA government of not taking adequate measures against these.

Ninety per cent respondents said demonetisation has helped fight corruption with "huge detection of black money" and 92 per cent said a decision like this was necessary to fight graft and black money, they said citing figures.

Eighty-seven per cent of participants said they were satisfied with the results of demonetisation while 92 per cent expressed the view that a less-cash economy was taking shape and it would prove to be beneficial for the country in the long run.

Demonetisation has emerged as a rallying point for both the BJP and the opposition with the latter terming it a failure and marking its anniversary as 'black day' while the ruling party describing it as an attack on black money and observing the day as 'anti-blackmoney day'.

Sources recalled that Modi had sought feedback on demonetisation last year too and the decision received high approval.
