Doctor booked for sex determination test of foetus in Nashik

Nashik: A doctor at a sonography centre in Malegaon was trapped while allegedly conducting a sex determination test of a foetus, police said on Sunday.

The doctor was trapped in a sting operation by an NGO which sent a decoy patient to the sonography centre last night. The accused allegedly conducted the sex determination test on the pregnant patient and took Rs 12,500 from her for it, police said. The NGO `Lek Ladki Abhiyan` conducted the sting operation following several complaints that sex determination test was being conducted at the `Shiv Mangal sonography centre` on Malegaon-Satana road. Later, the police sealed the centre and registered an offence under relevant sections of IPC, police said, adding that, however, the accused doctor fled from the centre and a search was on to nab him.
