The train and flight services in Delhi have been hit hard after a dense fog engulfed the national capital on Friday morning.

NEW DELHI: Cold conditions prevailed in the national capital with dense fog reducing the visibility to 50 metres disrupting train and flight operations. 

At least 17 flights have been delayed at the Delhi airport due to prevailing fog conditions in the national capital. 

Hundreds of passengers at several railway stations in north India have been left stranded after multiple trains have been cancelled, delayed, and rescheduled due to dense fog.

Low visibility due to the fog has disrupted flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International airport.

Agency reports suggested that 62 trains are delayed, 20 have been rescheduled and 18 cancelled due to the low visibility as fog continues to grip the region. 

On Thursday, Delhi experienced its coldest day of this season as the minimum temperature recorded was 7 degree Celsius.
