Kolkata: Another case of sexual assault of a three-year-old child in a Behala-based Kolkata has emerged. The prime accused in the case – a non-teaching staff – was arrested by the police on Monday.
The incident emerged days after reports of a four-year-old girl being sexually assaulted in a high-profile school on Thursday.
The victim’s mother has been complaining about the issue against two school employees for a while. The child was reportedly abused twice - in July and in August. But the school failed to take any action. She later spoke to the media, highlighting the issue.
On Monday morning, the minor's parents, along with several others, started protesting outside the school campus. Following the school’s refusal to respond, the protests intensified.
The school later suspended one of the non-teaching employees, but no took action against another alleged assaulter, who is now reportedly missing.
Enraged by this, parents blocked the road on James Long Sarani. The police later lathicharged on protesting parents.
Meanwhile, parents from the other Kolkata school took out a massive rally on Monday.
The school principal called for a meeting with parents on Tuesday amid the presence of police and the media. Two physical education teachers have been arrested for the assault of the minor.
