KOLKATA: A day after two physical education teachers were arrested in connection with the shocking incident of a four-year-old girl sexual assault inside GD Birla Centre For Education, were sent to two days police custody, the agitated parents on Sunday demanded the arrest of the schol principal.
The parents of the girl lodged a complaint at the Jadavpur Police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the principal of the school, S Nath, for allegedly suppressing facts about the incident and for not taking preventive measures despite a similar assault three years ago.
As hundreds of agitating people sat on a dharna in front of a Metro station today in protest, the city school said it would remain closed from Monday.
A four-year-old nursery student was allegedly sexually assaulted inside the prominent private school on Friday where a similar incident had taken place three years ago, triggering angry protests by guardians.
The agitating parents first blocked the road near the school premises in south Kolkata's Ranikuthi and then marched to Tollygunj where they held the sit in. The protesters were joined by several parents of students from other prominent schools in the city.
The agitating parents carried banners and placards condemning the assault on the minor girl. They created a massive road graffiti of a child student asking for her security, as a symbolic protest to the incident of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Women and child activists have condemned the molestation of a four-year-old girl in Kolkata and questioned the negligence of GD Birla Centre for Education School authority.
