Andhra Pradesh: Bus dashes into stationary auto; eight killed

Eight persons, including three women, inside a stationary auto were on Monday killed and four others injured after it was hit by a state transport bus here, police said.

Visakhapatnam: Eight persons, including three women, inside a stationary auto were on Monday killed and four others injured after it was hit by a state transport bus here, police said.

The mishap took place at Marikivalasa junction of Madhurawada mandal here when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus going to Rajahmundry from Rajam dashed the stationary auto from the rear while overtaking a car, police said.

Six persons onboard the auto were killed on spot while two others succumbed on their way to the hospital, they said.

In all 12 passengers were inside the local auto at the time of accident.

Those injured were admitted to a local hospital. The deceased are yet to be identified, police said.

The bus driver surrendered before the police but an irate mob damaged the vehicle after the accident, they added.
