New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday said no action has been taken against union ministers and BJP parliamentarians against whom criminal cases were pending while all official agencies had been let loose after AAP leaders.
"Of the 75 union ministers, 24 have criminal cases against them. Fourteen of them face serious criminal cases. However, the law enforcement agencies such as police and the CBI have not shown any alacrity in acting against them," AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said.
"Moreover, out of 282 BJP Lok Sabha MPs, 98 have criminal cases against them. No agency has been asked to take action against them, unlike in the case of Aam Aadmi Party leaders. All these agencies have been let loose after AAP leaders and legislators," he added.
Chadha said Delhi Police had failed to act against New Delhi Municipal Council Vice-Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar even when his alleged involvement in the MM Khan murder case was highlighted by AAP.
"Similarly, BJP legislator O.P. Sharma was not arrested for publicly beating a man in the Patiala House court complex. The Delhi Police did not even summon accused BJP leaders to record their statement. But it (Delhi Police) takes swift action on the complaints against AAP leaders," he told reporters here.
On the income tax raid at party MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar`s residence in south Delhi, another senior AAP leader Ashutosh said: "The government allowed (liquor baron) Vijay Mallya to flee the country. But they are raiding our MLA`s house as if he is involved in some money laundering case."
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scared of AAP and can`t fight their party politically.
"Modi ji is scared of AAP. They can`t beat us politically. That is why they are using police and other such agencies to silence us. But we are not scared of police action. In fact, we have informed our family members that we could be arrested any day," Ashutosh added.
Meanwhile, AAP MLA Bhavna Gaur claimed that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was not serious about women`s security.
"We met Rajnath Singh and told him they could do anything to AAP leaders but women`s security is not a political issue. However, it seemed he is not serious about the issue. He told us if we have any problem with the government we should give it in writing," Gaur told reporters.
