Traffic diversions during Goddess Durga idol immersion on Friday

In view of Dussehra festival and immersion of Goddess Durga's idol on Friday, Delhi Police has made some diversions across the city to ensure smooth traffic movement.

New Delhi: In view of Dussehra festival and immersion of Goddess Durga's idol on Friday, Delhi Police has made some diversions across the city to ensure smooth traffic movement.

Traffic Police has also issued an advisory asking motorists to avoid routes from where 'Durga Pooja' procession will be held and use public transport instead to avoid congestion.

As per directions, no HTV & LGV will be allowed from Wazirabad T-Point towards ISBT on Ring Road and traffic coming from Wazirabad side will be diverted towards Burari Chowk on Outer Ring Road.

In South Delhi, no HTV, MGV & LGV will be allowed on Ring Road from Nizamuddin Bridge towards ISBT and will be diverted on NH-24 towards Akshardham Temple in East Delhi.

"No vehicle be allowed towards Akhara Chandgi Ram on Ring Road from ISBT and traffic will be diverted towards Boulevard road for onward journey to Barafkhana Chowk," a senior traffic police official said.

The following roads will be affected tomorrow morning, are Mandir Marg, Peshwa Road, Gole Marke, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, GPO New Delhi, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, Minto Road, D DU Marg, BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, Ring Road & ISBT, Chittaranjan Park, Mathura Road, Outer Ring Road 16 Maa Anand Mai Marg, Josip Broz Tito Marg, Nehru Place, Wazirabad Road, GD Birla Marg (Road No 13A), Khajuri Pushta Road and Sonia Vihar Pushta Road.

The official advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station and ISBT to leave in advance and have sufficient time to accommodate possible delay in routes and avail public transport to help decongestion of roads.

Traffic police has also issued advisory ahead of Dussehra celebrations, putting restrictions on the movement of general traffic on some roads.

"There will be restrictions on movement of general traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, New Darya Ganj Road, JLN Marg and Turkman Gate," official said.

Traffic police has also advised people to avoid roads leading to events of Dussehra celebrations - Ram Lila Maidan, Red Fort Ground, Subash Maidan and other event venue.

"People should avail public transport like Delhi Metro to help decongestion of roads and they should part their vehicles only at designated parking lots. People are also requested to avoid roadside parking as it causes hindrance to normal flow of traffic," he further added.
