New Delhi: A day after AAP released its manifesto, the party took to Twitter to spell its stand on several issues ranging from homosexuality to nuclear policy.
Party`s manifesto committee chief Atishi Marlena was herself responding to the questions asked people on twitter using #AskAtishiAAP. Interestingly, the hashtag was trending in top five for sometime.
"There were many who had doubts over party`s stand on issues which did not find place in the manifesto, which is why we undertook this step," said an AAP volunteer working with the party`s IT cell. Questions were asked on issues like party`s opposition to nuclear energy. "Blanket opposition of nuclear power - the safest energy source by far - is not smart for India," said a tweet. To this Merlena responded, "Long-term health and env costs make thermal and nuclear costlier. Renewable safer and env-friendly #AskAtishiAAP". Kejriwal had said that the party was opposed to nuclear energy because of the long-term hazard in case of an accident. There were many issues which did not find space in the party manifesto. The party made its views clear on gender equality, but did not speak about the LGBT community. There were a number of queries on the issue. Some also asked a queries on party`s stand on the Uniform Civil Code. Although, the party has been trying to hardsell the reasons behind Arvind Kejriwal quitting as Delhi Chief Minister many also asked why AAP quit the Delhi government in 49 days. Yesterday, Kejriwal released AAP manifesto spelling out party`s stand over several issues ranging from policy on economy, foreign affairs and defence to electoral and judicial reforms.
