A 36-year-old woman died of swine flu here, taking the number of H1N1 deaths in the district to three this month, an official said Monday.

Indore (MP): A 36-year-old woman died of swine flu here, taking the number of H1N1 deaths in the district to three this month, an official said Monday.

The woman, a resident of Gautampura area in the district died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital yesterday where she was admitted in a critical condition on January 14, Integrated Diseases Surveillance Project (IDSP) district unit in-charge Dr G L Sodhi told PTI.

He said that as temperatures are constantly remaining low, the H1N1 virus has become active. Sodhi said people with low immunity to fight diseases are falling prey to swine flu.

Around 16 hospitals had been chosen for treating swine flu patients. Besides, a special ward has been set up for such patients in state-run Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital here where specialists have been deputed for the purpose, he said.

Sodhi said there was adequate stock of Tami Flu to treat the patients. He said that IDSP has identified five patients of H1N1, of which three have succumbed to the disease while two others were critical.

Last year, six persons died due to H1N1.
