New Delhi: Ex-Army men on Saturday demanded the NDA government to give a specific date for implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme, failure of which they said may lead to a massive agitation.

A meeting of ex-Army personnel to discuss the issue of OROP was also held today.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ex-servicemen asked for implementation of OROP as soon as possible.

“We met Defence Minister (Manohar Parrikar) on OROP and the meeting was inconclusive. We will meet him again,” Major General (Retd) Satbir Singh was quoted as saying by ANI.

He further threatened that if the government fails to give a specific date for the implementation of the policy, then the ex-servicemen will hold an agitation from June 14.

“If we won’t get specific date then we'll start an agitation from June 14 and from June 15, we'll go on hunger strike,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi assured the ex-servicemen that the government will certainly implement the OROP scheme.

“It might take some time but the government will implement OROP policy,” Trivedi was quoted as saying by ANI.

“Government is committed to One Rank, One Pension policy. PM Modi has assured jawans of the same,” said another BJP leader Sambit Patra.
