One year of Modi govt: A lot of hype and no work, says Congress

Stepping up its attack on the NDA government as it completes one year in office, the Congress, Monday, termed its termed its track record as high on hype and less on actual work on the ground.

New Delhi: Stepping up its attack on the NDA government as it completes one year in office, the Congress, Monday, termed its termed its track record as high on hype and less on actual work on the ground.

“A lot of hype and no work that is how this government works,” said Abhishek Manu Singhvi of the Congress.

The Congress has been on an overdrive to slam the Modi government's one year in office.

Yesterday, Singhvi's colleague Jairam Ramesh had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had no work on ground to show and accused him of "murdering democratic institutions" while running "a one-man government".

Presenting a five-chapter report card on the completion of Modi government, Ramesh said "MODI refers to Murder Of Democratic India" as it has bypassed Parliament with its "maximum governance becoming maximum arrogance and minimum government becoming one-man government".

Calling Modi "Super Gagan Vihari", Congress leaders also attacked the Prime Minister over his foreign visits saying he was only busy polishing his global image.

The opposition party accused Modi government of playing with national security, saying "reducing defence expenditure, frequent ceasefire violations, Pakistani and Chinese infiltration into Indian territory and no decision over one-rank one-pension scheme show its lack of concern".

Questioning the government's move to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets from France in fly-away condition, Congress leader and former Defence Minister A K Antony wondered whether the Finance Ministry and Defence Acquisition Council were taken on board on the deal.

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh took a dig at the PM saying he in his first year in office has emerged as a "marketing guru".

"The performance of Modi government has been zero in last one year. But Modi was glorifying his regime performance boastfully. He is a good marketing guru who has perfected the art of selling products with zero performance," Singh said.

He said that Modi has just done repackaging of previous UPA government's schemes and running them by projecting as if they had been charted out by the NDA government.
