Prabhat Singh is new Jammu police chief

Senior IPS officer Prabhat Singh took over as new SSP Jammu replacing Anand Jain.

Jammu: Senior IPS officer Prabhat Singh on Thursday
took over as new SSP Jammu replacing Anand Jain who will head
the 15th battalion of India Reserve Police (IRP).

Singh, who was serving as the Commandant 15th battalions
of IRP (women battalion) assumed charge at the district Police
Headquarters here.

Jain had alleged in a letter purportedly written to the IG
Police, Jammu, and leaked in the media, that a Congress
minister had threatened a Deputy Superintendent of Police in a
land dispute case in Domana area of Jammu city on December 20.

The minister, however, had denied the charges and asked
the government to probe the allegations.

A report was submitted by Home Commissioner B R Sharma to
J&K government in this regard after which Jain was shifted.
