Jharkhand Speaker writes to PM, demands probe into `corruption` in CCL

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker C P Singh today despatched a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding a probe into alleged corruption by senior officials in the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).

"....In the name of granting new linkage to several
plants, hurdles are (being) created and unnecessary delays are
being made only to collect heavy amount from the entrepreneurs
at the behest of top management of the CCL," Singh alleged in
his letter, a copy which was released to the media, to the PM.
"...an impartial inquiry may be ordered in the matters
to arrest such corruption...adversely affecting development
of Jharkhand," he added.

The Speaker has also raised among other charges as to
how a senior official has `submitted false documents
/certificates` for getting alleged benefits.

No top official from the public sector was available
for comment despite repeated efforts.
