Ahmedabad, July 31: The nine-member Election
Commission team, which is in Gujarat to assess the situation for holding early assembly elections in the state, today met the state electoral officer.
The team, headed by deputy election Commisioners A N Zha and S Manratta, reached here last night, official sources
said.
The team is expected to meet a wide section of people,
including political leaders and parties, and visit different
parts of the state to assess and decide whether or not the
situation is conducive for early polls, sources added.
It would also visit the violence-hit areas during its
week-long stay in the state which was ravaged by communal over
800 people and rendering thousands homeless.
