Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday asserted that the government was committed to economic liberalisation and remove all hurdles in the way of greater Japanese investment in India.

We are all out to create a congenial atmosphere for investments by Japan and other countries, Vajpayee told a group of top Japanese businessmen.

Stating that India was keen on strengthening ties with Japan, Vajpayee told them that his government has speeded up the economic reforms.

Although the economic reforms process was a difficult task, his government was determined to do it, he told them. Where there is a will, there is a way, Vajpayee said.

Pointing out that Japan had already made investments in India, the Prime Minister said he would like them to go for more investment.

India would also like to go for joint ventures in various sectors, he said adding if India and Japan cooperated in the economic field, there could be cooperation in other fields as well.

Together we can change the face of Asia, Vajpayee said and remarked we can play an important role in the global arena.

Prominent among the businessmen present on the occasion were Yoshini Ishipawa, Hideo Swada, Toru Arakaws and Hiroshi Fujiwara.
