Indian, Pak troops exchange firing along LoC

Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors, where five Indian grass sheds and three Pakistani posts were damaged since Saturday night, according to defence sources in Jammu on Sunday.

The sources said Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling along LoC in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors and heavy shelling in Gontrian, Majdhar, Kerni and Shahpur areas of Poonch around Saturday night.

Five grass sheds caught fire in no man's land in Shahpur and were damaged in the shelling, the sources said, adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.

Indian troops retaliated to the firing and mortar shelling in Kerni, Bhimber Gali, Balakote, Laam, Bhawani, Noushera, Krishana Gati, Gambhir, Shahpur and Pallanwala areas along LoC in Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri sector and the exchange continued intermittently till this afternoon.

Three Pakistani posts opposite Gali Kirni, Mendhar and Majdhar were damaged in the Indian action, the sources said.
