New Delhi, July 04: Congress today sought to downplay
the fresh offensive against the UPA government by the Left
parties on the issue of framework agreement on indo-us
defence relationship saying the issue could be discussed in
the UPA-Left coordination committee.

"This issue can also be discussed in the coordination
committee", party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters here
when asked about Left parties decision to hold mass rallies
all over the country to protest against the framework
agreement reached during the recent visit of defence minister
Pranab Mukherjee.

When told the left were boycotting the coordination
committee meetings, Sharma disagreed saying they only
suspended their participation which showed it is temporary in
nature.

Sharma said the Congress believed in a multi-polar
world.

On the BHEL disinvestment issue, he said the Congress
party was committed to maintain the public sector character of
Navaratna PSUs and the party and also the UPA were committed
for implementation of the common minimum programme.
