Karna persuading Mani's brother to go as emissary

Salem, Sept 15: The Karnataka government was persuading Palanichamy, brother of Tamil activist Kolathur Mani, to go to jungles as an emissary to negotiate with forest brigand Veerappan in its bid to release former minister H Nagappa from the brigand's captivity, Palanichamy's family sources said.

Karnataka government had yesterday ruled out sending
Kolathur Mui, now in a Karnataka state jail, as an emissary.

Palanichamy's family sources told reporters at Uthiramparuthikadu, Palanichamy's village near here, today
that Palanichamy met his brother in the jail yesterday when
the Karnataka government officials conveyed the government's wish to Palanichamy.

Nagappa, former Karnataka minister, was kidnapped by
Veerappan on August 25.
