Salem, Feb 14: Within three years the Vajpayeee government constructed 1800 kms of national highway roads whereas till year 1999 the length was 2,032 kms, B C Khanduri,
Union minister of state for road transport and highways said here today.
Inaugurating an 8.4 km four-lane bypass road on the
national highway in Salem costing Rs 18.85 crore, he said
Prime Minister A B Vajpayee had plans for construction of
14,850 kms of roads connecting the north, south, east and
west, costing Rs 54,000 crore.
Tamil Nadu health minister Semmalai requested the Union
minister to clear nine state highway road projects pending
for a long time.
