Maharashtra cabinet thanks Vilasrao Deshmukh

Mumbai, Jan 18: The Maharashtra cabinet meeting
today passed an unanimous resolution eulogising services of
former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

The resolution thanking his predecessor was moved by
Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and seconded by Deputy
Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, an official release said here
tonight.

Hours after taking oath as the 22nd Chief Minister,
Shinde had convened the cabinet meeting which also recommended
the governor to convene the special session of the state
legislature on January 22.

The cabinet stated that despite severe financial
difficulties, the former chief minister took decisions to
provide succour to farmers and downtrodden
