New Delhi, Aug 18: With growing need for improved security system in the aftermath of the September 11 and December 13 terror attacks, a high profile National Security Academy is being set up for the first time in the private
sector in the country.
The academy to be set up by the Rs 70 crore tops detective and security services will provide training to 500 persons annually to cope up with high and sophisticated security requirements for manning vital industrial and other
installations.
The institute, which would be set up in collaboration with a leading security company from the United Kingdom, could be either 4 or 5 branches in as many locations or just one academy in one location yet to be decided upon, the
Topsgroup's CEO Diwan Rahul Nanda said.
The only ISO 9002 certified security company in the country, Topsgroup with its over 17,000 personnel, takes care of security requirements of 3,000 customers including leading industrial houses Tatas, Coca Cola, Stanchart, Sony, Hindustan
Lever and several other multinationals and foreign banks in the country.
The wholly-owned Indian company also proposed to introduce by October its popular bulletproof security vans in Delhi for carting cash and other valuables to banks, Nanda said adding that these vans fitted with all sophisticated electronic systems could be tracked with the help of computers on its entire route.
The vans already in use in Mumbai for carting cash of several banks have such hi-tech devices which could cut off the fuel supply through remote operations when it deviates from the earmarked route.
